STÜF is a Virtual Reality project that I worked on during my third year at university. The premise is to collect as many items as possible from the warehouse by throwing them to the staff member that appears from the various doors around the level.
I built this game with the use of the ROVR which is a form of Virtual Reality locomotion tech that allows movement by sliding your feet on it.
My Major Project for my third year of University is a little game called STÜF, the objective is to spend as much as you can on the items in the showroom. You play in VR and can use the ROVR VR treadmill in order to move your character along the route.
Look below for some images as well as the Dev Diary of its creation.
STÜF won 2nd place in the Game Republic Sumo Digital Award for Game Design 2020, this was despite having to work on the project through the Covid-19 pandemic.
STÜF is a Virtual Reality game that I am currently building for my third year university project. The idea came from walking around a popular Swedish furniture showroom *cough cough* where I thought about just how chaotic could I make the trip.
I feel that tasks that are more basic in nature or that would be pretty trivial in real life seem to lend themselves well to projects utilising VR. I thought of making something akin to a game called Wilmot's Warehouse that you can find on steam but transferring the core idea into VR. The idea was a warehouse that you stack things in and sell things too.
The idea evolved into a showroom where the player moved around collecting furniture for points, mainly I found (and so did people that tested it) that it was really fun to throw things around in there. Who know destroying a showroom like this was so cathartic!
