Infinite Journeys
This project was an entry into a render challenge which tasked us to create a 3D scene with the rules of keeping the window in the middle, having a main character and keeping a sense of movement.
With my entry I concepted out some initial ideas, one of these that stuck me straight away was the idea of a western stagecoach circa 1885 running through the town with stolen gold. So, from there I stuck on the Red Dead Redemption soundtrack and got to work in UE4.
The render challenge was my second foray into the render challenges created by Clinton Jones (_pwnisher_) formally of Corridor Digital. With this one, the focus was similar to the first challenge of making a scene in a program that followed some rules. One of those was to keep the visual weight of a window in the centre frame, the others were to keep a sense of movement and feature at least one character up front.
Having had the first render challenge, I was able to draw from some of the skills I learnt in that about building a story from the smallest of parts. I would still say that the main challenge was to tell a story with visual elements and keeping the composition of the scene. I think I achieved both of these with my render and I couldn't be happier with the end result!
I am looking into some of my other ideas and seeing if I can use Unreal Engine 5 to create one of those.
Alternate Realities
This project was an entry into a render challenge which tasked us to create an alternate reality scene based from 2 of the same parts. Those parts were the circle to the right and using the same animation of the character walking.
With my entry I wanted to go with a more cosmic/Lovecraft feel with some space fantasy to give it the feeling of being a different reality. I hope that the render can convey some story to each person that sees it.
The render challenge was my first attempt at a project that wasn't game design related. From this, I had to look into art in the way of composition and other ideals more in line with art.
Luckily, I was able to use Unreal Engine 4 to create my entry which was very useful as that is the software I would say I am most comfortable with. A big part of my love for game design comes from learning new skills and adapting them into my projects, this project was able to teach me parts of Unreal which before it I was not 100% on how they worked.
I would love to use Unreal Engine to create a short film one day, I would love to have access to motion capture suits and software in order to create these short films too.
STORMGUARD is a concept that I worked on a couple of years ago. It started as a drawing as I was learning about how to draw better and turned into one of my favourite weapon designs. I built a model in MAYA and worked on texturing it in 3D Coat.
My intention is to build a melee combat system that will be able to utilise concepts like STORMGUARD as well as some of the others that I have designed.
At the end of October 2021 I entered into a "Spooktober" game jam which had the theme of sacrifice. Game Jams for me give me an opportunity to give a sprint design a go while also using it as an opportunity to refine my skills in quick coding a little more in Unity.
While I only had a couple days in my schedule to build this game, I was able to create a short clicker game which had you tab/click to increase the score. I think the design fits the sacrifice theme, as you can probably tell I just got done watching Midnight Mass, and I think this little game could do much more with some more work.
For example if I were to take this Game Jam project forward I would probably aim to get a store working to allow the player to buy upgrades much like the game Cookie Clicker allows the player to do. However, with this being made in such a short amount of time I am particularly proud of what I was able to achieve.

I have a big interest in storytelling. I have a few ideas which I have been writing drafts for including some you can see below.
'Khell Imperium Records' is a project that I wanted to be set as if it was a text from the universe that it brings stories from. Below you can see where I am up to so far, I am currently writing a story in the same universe however this is nowhere near as complete as the work below.
