Wildreach is a game concept which I created during my first year at University. The basic idea was to create a fleshed out concept with assets. I had a lot of fun putting the different elements together and thinking about how this concept would work. Being able to create a basic UI and how that side of the concept would work was great practice and helped out when thinking about my other projects.
This is a video I put together from parts of other games to give a feel of how Wildreach would come across and what the core idea of the game is. Plus it was pretty fun to make!
Wildreach: Bane Of The Skeleton King was one of my first projects that I worked on in my first year of university. The basis was an cooperative RPG game with a focus on story and dungeons in a multiplayer experience.
The idea of creating Wildreach: Bane Of The Skeleton King was born from playing games like Gauntlet and wanting a more RPG and story experience more akin to the Diablo games or Balder's Gate.
To that effect, I feel that cooperative experiences in games make for a very unique experience and there are few games that can have a great story within a multiplayer landscape. Games like World of Warcraft suffer from every player being seen as a "chosen one" making each players experience virtually the same.
